چکیده

The history of educational reform is littered with examples of failed efforts to reform schools through the integration of technology. In many cases, this lack of success can be attributed to an over-reliance on the technology and a failure to ground the work in meaningful learning experiences. In this paper, the potential for GIS-enhanced inquiry to meet educational standards in science, mathematics, and geography will be examined critically, contrasted with previous technology-rich reform efforts, and illustrated with examples drawn from student projects conducted under the guidance of the Missouri Botanical Garden.
